Official website

Under the Work Division Regulation, 2083 this ministry combines labour and employment with youth (youth policy and the Youth Self-Employment Fund). Contribution-based social security and the Social Security Fund moved to the Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities, and Social Security. Results and audit findings below refer to the former Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security and the former Ministry of Youth and Sports.कार्य विभाजन नियमावली, २०८३ अनुसार यो मन्त्रालयले श्रम र रोजगारसँगै युवा (युवा नीति र युवा स्वरोजगार कोष) हेर्छ। योगदानमा आधारित सामाजिक सुरक्षा र सामाजिक सुरक्षा कोष भने महिला, बालबालिका, लैङ्गिक तथा यौनिक अल्पसङ्ख्यक र सामाजिक सुरक्षा मन्त्रालयमा गएका छन्। तलका उपलब्धि र लेखापरीक्षणका तथ्य साबिकको श्रम, रोजगार तथा सामाजिक सुरक्षा मन्त्रालय र युवा तथा खेलकुद मन्त्रालयसँग सम्बन्धित छन्।

What it has delivered

  • 505,957 Nepalis took first-time labour permits for foreign employment (up 10.0%) and 333,309 renewed permits (up 18.5%). Challenges

  • Deaths abroad remain high: according to the Economic Survey, 1,583 Nepali workers died in foreign employment in FY 2024/25, the highest in the past decade, and 1,086 more by mid-March 2026.विदेशमा मृत्यु उच्च छ: आर्थिक सर्वेक्षणअनुसार आ.व. २०८१/८२ मा वैदेशिक रोजगारीमा रहेका १,५८३ नेपाली कामदारको मृत्यु भयो, जुन पछिल्ला दश वर्षमै सबैभन्दा बढी हो, र मार्च २०२६ मध्यसम्म थप १,०८६ को मृत्यु भयो। Ministry of Finance Para 6.15 and Table 6(c), printed p.85 (PDF p.117)
