On 11 October 2026 the city's website showed an acting mayor and no deputy mayor. In the 2079 (2022) local election, the Election Commission lists Balendra Shah (independent) as elected Mayor and Sunita Dongol (Dangol on the city site) as elected Deputy Mayor.   • Kathmandu Metropolitan City is one of Nepal's six metropolitan cities, in Kathmandu district, Bagmati Province. Kathmandu Metropolitan City PDF p.60 'कुल जम्मा व्यय (क + ख) २५८८३०५५' (Rs thousand) = Rs 25,133,055 thousand through the consolidated fund + Rs 750,000 thousand external funding outside it. Income side p.2 gives the same total and includes Rs 7,383,999 thousand of carried-over bank balance (p.1).

What the city reports it has delivered

  • The city reports that about 9,000 grievances have been registered in its grievance system to date and about 8,700 (97%) addressed. What the Auditor General found

  • The Auditor General's 63rd annual report records beruju of Rs 619.8 million in the city's accounts for FY 2081/82, which is 2.19% of the Rs 28.29 billion audited.   • In its audit of the Nepal Trust, the Auditor General notes that the city rents the Kathmandu Plaza building and land at Kamaladi from the Trust under a 2079/12/8 agreement.
