The city's officials page still lists Rajesh Man Singh as Mayor and Imtiyaz Alam as Deputy Mayor, both 'current', matching the Election Commission's 2079 result. However, the city's own FY 2083/84 policy and programme (10 Asar 2083) was presented by Imtiyaz Alam as acting mayor (का.बा.प्रमुख). About the city

Birgunj Metropolitan City is one of Nepal's six metropolitan cities, in Parsa district, Madhesh Province. MoFAGA counts 753 local levels in all: 6 metropolitan cities, 11 sub-metropolitan cities, 276 municipalities and 460 rural municipalities.वीरगन्ज महानगरपालिका नेपालका ६ महानगरपालिकामध्ये एक हो, जुन मधेश प्रदेशको पर्सा जिल्लामा पर्छ। मन्त्रालयका अनुसार देशमा ६ महानगरपालिका, ११ उपमहानगरपालिका, २७६ नगरपालिका र ४६० गाउँपालिका गरी ७५३ स्थानीय तह छन्। Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration See the two MoFAGA source locators.

What the city reports it has delivered

What the Auditor General found

The Auditor General's 63rd report says the city was not audited for FY 2081/82: its accounts and related documents for that year were not submitted because of the movement and incidents of 23 and 24 Bhadra 2082. Birgunj and Bharatpur are the two metropolitan cities among the 31 local levels in this position. The Auditor General's 62nd annual report records beruju of Rs 227.5 million in the city's accounts for FY 2080/81, which is 3.62% of the Rs 6.28 billion audited.
