What does it do?

• The Supreme Court sits in Kathmandu, but the Chief Justice, after consulting the government, may set up benches elsewhere. • When the Court declares a law void under Article 133(1) of the Constitution, it may issue appropriate orders, including making the declaration effective from the law's commencement or from the date of the decision. • The Chief Justice takes the oath before the President and other justices before the Chief Justice, in the form in the Schedule. • The Supreme Court makes its own rules on its jurisdiction and procedure, including bench composition, appeals, references, reviews and petitions to re-open cases, writ petitions under Article 133, custody or bail of convicts who appeal, and contempt-of-court procedure.
