It builds, upgrades and maintains national highways and bridges through its divisions and project offices. What did the Auditor General find?
- In FY 2081/82 the Department and its offices were allocated Rs 128.07 billion and spent Rs 96.93 billion. Citing a committee report of 2081/6/15, the Auditor General noted that of 2,106 ongoing construction contracts at the end of Asar 2081, 945 (44.87%) were not running normally: among them 188 contracts worth Rs 14.68 billion were classed as problematic and 153 worth Rs 14.15 billion as "sick". - Rights-of-way are not always fixed.
