What does it do?

• Anyone entering Banke National Park must pay the Schedule 1 fee and receive an entry permit. Per person per day the fee is Rs 100 for Nepali citizens, Rs 750 for SAARC citizens and Rs 1,500 for other foreigners; children under 10 pay nothing. The Conservator may give free permits for study visits. • Without the Conservator's written permission, no one may build any hut or shelter, occupy or clear land, graze livestock, cut or remove trees and plants, start fires, or camp or spend the night outside designated sites. Weapons, poison, explosives, traps, nets and wild meat may not be carried, except licensed firearms in vehicles on the highway. • Drivers inside the park must have their goods checked at the entry post, must not sound the horn, and must keep to 40 km/h on the highway and 20 km/h elsewhere. Vehicles over five tonnes may not use roads other than the highway. • Schedule 1 also sets fees for fishing with a rod (Rs 200, Rs 1,000 or Rs 2,000 per day for Nepali, SAARC and other foreign citizens), camping (Rs 200, Rs 500 or Rs 1,000 per night) and other activities. Local Khuna and Badi people who traditionally fish or pan for gold for a living may do so for an annual fee of Rs 100. • The Conservator hears cases under the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act and this regulation, and an Assistant Conservator may decide minor ones, such as entering without a permit or removing forest produce worth up to Rs 10,000. No land inside the park may be occupied or registered, and any such registration is void.
