What does it do?

  • The regulation sets up a Gender Based Violence Prevention Fund, held in a separate account at Nepal Rastra Bank and run by a management committee chaired by a ministry secretary, with joint secretaries from several ministries, a senior police officer and one NGO representative. The Fund receives money from the Government, donors and other sources. International NGOs working in Nepal on women and children must deposit into it an amount equal to a percentage of their annual spending set by the Ministry. Provinces and local levels may set up their own funds under their own laws. Nepal Law Commission Rule 3(1)-(4), PDF p. 2; Rules 3A-3B, PDF pp. 2-3; Rule 4, PDF p. 3; Rule 7(1)-(2), PDF pp. 4-5

Children, adolescents and people drawn into drug abuse because of such violence may be given priority. Nepal Law Commission Rule 5(1)-(2), PDF pp. 3-4
