What does it do?
- These rules, made under Section 165 of the Military Act, 2016, set up short-service appointments to technical officer posts in the Nepali Army. A selection committee formed under the Military Technical Service Rules, 2019 picks candidates who meet the qualifications in those rules and recommends them for appointment as technical second lieutenant (प्राविधिक उप-सेनानी). - Short service lasts five years. A short-service technical second lieutenant who has completed two years and the basic training set by army headquarters may be promoted to technical lieutenant (प्राविधिक सह-सेनानी).अल्पसेवाको अवधि पाँच वर्षको हुन्छ। अल्पसेवाको प्राविधिक उप-सेनानीमा दुई वर्ष सेवा पूरा गरेका र जङ्गी अड्डाले तोकेको बेसिक तालिम पाएका व्यक्तिलाई प्राविधिक सह-सेनानीमा बढुवा गर्न सकिन्छ। Nepal Law Commission Rules 2(ग), 4 and 6, PDF pp. 1-2
- On the selection committee's recommendation, a short-service officer may be given a permanent appointment to a vacant technical post in the Nepali Army. If that happens, the whole period served on short service counts as permanent service.
