What does it do?
- Anyone who needs a document certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a Nepali mission abroad must apply to that office, stating clearly why certification is needed and attaching the document. Certification here means confirming that a document held in, or certified by, a court or government office matches that office's record. After checking, an officer of gazetted rank certifies the document and adds the office seal.कुनै लिखत परराष्ट्र मन्त्रालय वा विदेशस्थित नेपाली मिसनबाट प्रमाणीकरण गराउन चाहनेले प्रमाणीकरण गराउनुपर्ने कारण स्पष्ट खोली सो लिखतसमेत नत्थी गरी सम्बन्धित कार्यालयमा दरखास्त दिनुपर्छ। यहाँ प्रमाणीकरण भन्नाले अड्डा, अदालत वा सरकारी कार्यालयको रेकर्डमा रहेको वा त्यहाँबाट प्रमाणित गरिएको लिखत सो रेकर्डबमोजिम नै हो भनी प्रमाणित गर्ने काम बुझिन्छ। जाँचबुझ गरेपछि नेपाल सरकारको राजपत्राङ्कित दर्जाको अधिकारीले प्रमाणीकरण गरी कार्यालयको छापसमेत लगाइदिनुपर्छ। Nepal Law Commission Rule 2(ख), PDF p. 1; Rule 3(1)-(2), PDF p. 2
- The application fee is Rs 25 for each document to be certified. Abroad, the fee is collected in the local currency at the Nepal Rastra Bank exchange rate. A document that has already been certified once, with the fee paid, can be certified again on an application alone, with no further fee.प्रमाणीकरण गर्नुपर्ने प्रत्येक लिखतको रु. २५ का दरले दरखास्तसाथ दस्तुर बुझाउनुपर्छ। विदेशमा भए राष्ट्र बैङ्कको सटही दरले हुने रकम कायम गरी सम्बन्धित देशको मुद्रामा दस्तुर लिइन्छ। दस्तुर बुझाई एक पटक प्रमाणीकरण भइसकेको लिखत फेरि प्रमाणीकरण गराउनुपरेमा दरखास्त मात्र दिए पुग्छ, दस्तुर लाग्दैन। Nepal Law Commission Rules 4 and 5, PDF p. 2
- The Ministry and missions must keep a register of every document they certify. Certification under this regulation is done only for matters concerning foreign diplomatic representatives or organisations in Nepal, or work outside Nepal.
