What does it do?
- These rules, made under Section 165 of the Military Act, 2016, set what the Nepali Army must do when a soldier deserts, with or without army goods. The soldier's unit or formation must issue an order for the person's arrest, giving their name, surname and address. Sixty days after the desertion, the unit must strike the person off its roll and send all the papers for record to the Ka. Ki. - If the deserter had served more than three years, the Ka. Ki. Jangi Phant removes the name from the register after three years and informs the Controller of Defence Accounts office. - A court of inquiry lists the goods and money the deserter left behind. Usable issued items are taken back into stock for reissue. - If the deserter took extra government clothing or goods, their value must be recovered from the auction money and fund balance, and then from any salary due, and deposited in Nepal Rastra Bank.
