Privatization (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2081 BS

What does it do?

• This ordinance amends the Privatisation Act, 2050 and renames it: 'privatisation' becomes 'management of government investment in public enterprises' throughout the Act. • It creates an implementation committee chaired by the Finance Secretary (with Law Ministry, Finance Ministry and line-ministry joint secretaries and the enterprise's chief executive) to carry out, monitor and evaluate decisions, and a government investment management unit in the Finance Ministry. • Under Article 114 of the Constitution, an ordinance has the same force as an Act, but it must be tabled at the next session of both Houses; it ceases to have effect if both Houses do not adopt it, if the President repeals it, or sixty days after both Houses meet.
